Summary: Default UI is too small to read on high DPI screens Project: GNU GRUB Submitted by: ngraham Submitted on: Mon 12 Jul 2021 08:26:36 PM UTC Category: User Interface Severity: Major Priority: 5 - Normal Item Group: Hardware-specific Status: None Privacy: Public Assigned to: None Originator Name: Originator Email: Open/Closed: Open Release: Release: other Discussion Lock: Any Reproducibility: Every Time Planned Release: None _______________________________________________________ Details: I am using a Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga laptop with a 3820x2160 14" screen. I run Fedora 34 with KDE Plasma and the UI scaled to 200%; GNOME and other DEs have similar functionality to scale the UI. However the GRUB screen is not scaled in this way. As a result, any text and interactive UI elements are almost unreadably small. See the attached screen screenshot for an example. The grub2 version is 2.06. I originally filed this issue on Fedora's bug tracker (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1964673), but they said it was an upstream issue, so I am filing this bug here. I did not have this issue on openSUSE Tumbleweed because the UI is different there; perhaps they override the default theme to have larger text. _______________________________________________________ File Attachments: ------------------------------------------------------- Date: Mon 12 Jul 2021 08:26:36 PM UTC Name: UI@t...@small.jpg Size: 2MiB By: ngraham UI too small to read <http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/download.php?file_id=51664> _______________________________________________________ Reply to this item at: <https://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?60914> _______________________________________________ Message sent via Savannah https://savannah.gnu.org/
