Thanks for the bug report, I will add the missing call to the
gsl_integration_workspace_free function.

I don't know of any comparison. The GSL functions are a faithful
reimplementation of the algorithms of the original Fortran QUADPACK
routines -- anything relevant to QUADPACK will also apply to GSL.
