I believe the problem is that there is an EPS figure in the
documentation, which doesn't respond well to making pdfs directly. I
suggest trying this:
1. make ps
2. ps2pdf ndlinear.ps ndlinear.pdf
I don't know of any other way to make tex create PDFs with embedded PS
figures.
