Use
guile> (assoc-ref '((1 . 2) (3 . 4) (5 . 6)) 3)

instead. Arguments for assoc-ref are the other way around from assoc.
Also note that it does return the value and not the cell. Both things
are to make assoc-ref rhyme with vector-ref, string-ref, list-ref,
etc.
