OK, I tried it on another system. Still crashed. Tried it on Guile 1.4, and it
does not crash on either system. It hasn't slowed down yet, but it's only at
about 500000 iterations so far. So it looks like the problem was introduced
after 1.4. BTW the same problem appears in unstable CVS.
So, now I'm wondering which version you couldn't get it to crash with.
