The build was done by: export CFLAGS='-O3 -march=pentium4 -mfpmath=sse -msse2' export CXXFLAGS=$CFLAGS ./configure --prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc --localstatedir=/var --infodir=/usr/share/info --mandir=/usr/share/man make My boundary conditions: gcc (GCC) 3.3.1 (SuSE Linux) libtool-1.5-85 gmp-4.1.2-98 ... and whatever is in a SuSE 9.0 system.
