I agree that this is a problem. However I think it is a bad idea to resuscitate the old one; it uses interfaces that have been removed and/or deprecated. It's really out of date, but I did tar up a snapshot (including SGML source (!)) and throw it up at http://www.gnu.org/software/guile/archive/lonelycactus-guilebook.tar.gz.
