Nevertheless, I’ve started an upload to alpha.gnu.org/guix/mirror as you suggested (should be there within 15 minutes or so) for two reasons: 1. It’s safer, and it’s a critical package. 2. Content-addressed mirrors are checked as a last resort after all the GNU mirrors have been checked. However, Jan reported that some mirrors return 200 with bogus data, which leads to a hash mismatch error (this is because it’s guix-daemon that checks hashes, after the ‘guix perform-download’ has done its jobs; ‘guix perform-download’ thus doesn’t check hashes.)
