For the last few months, I've run into a new problem in gnome-shell that only happens when running under Wayland: the mouse pointer disappears sporadically, but only when the pointer is hovered over GUI elements owned by gnome-shell. In particular, it happens when the pointer is over the gnome-shell top bar, or anywhere on the screen when in "overview" mode.
One trick I've found for getting the pointer back is to move the (invisible) pointer over the search box in overview mode. Doing so causes the pointer image to change from an arrow to an text insertion graphic. Unfortunately, this trick tends to fix it for only a short time. The problem has become so annoying that I basically gave up on running GNOME within Wayland for now, and have gone back to Xorg. This problem is not specific to Guix.
