Hello, Assuming no-one objects I will push the git hook changes to repository in Jan 1st. Adding the hooks is primarily done to avoid commit messages mistakes, such as I already did in 9aaee4c9 and bc966b6f.
There is also a small update to .gitignore file, and since the change is pushed after new year I will also ensure 'make update-copyright' gets to be ran.
