Uh, it seems that select() is broken, too:
#include <sys/types.h>
main ()
{
fd_set fd;
FD_ZERO (&fd);
FD_SET (0, &fd);
select (1, &fd, 0, 0, 0);
}
This program hangs, too. Time to look into glibc.
