Hello again, the bug report continues:

# uname -m
i386-AT386

Since my notebook has a turion processor, shouldn't 'uname -m' produce something like 'x86_64'?

Uname seems to be buggy even when a non-amd processor is concerned, as i have pointed out earlier (http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-hurd/2007-02/msg00048.html).
