Thanks for the tips on the various packages demonstrating performance
issues. I'll have little time until Friday but I will certainly look at
trying these myself from then. I did build tilemaker which completed
satisfactorily on a 3G hurd-amd64 virtual machine using around 500M of
swap. It seems like perhaps there is a critical point before a build
that needs to be reached before the issues show like on the buildd
machines. We'll see.
I'm prioritising analysis of the SIGSTOP/SIGCONT issue until then. I
have a partial understanding of that one at the moment.
