I see 2 problems with doing that: a. Need for string operations inside 'another' to add the parenthesis. Do we want to take this extra overhead? b. The invoking function loses control over the formatting of the secondary or tertiary prompt. So if we are to have a command which may need to have a secondary and tertiary prompt like: ftp> <command> (foo) <arg1> [bar] ... ...it becomes difficult with the older 'another', where every non-primary prompt must be enclosed in a parenthesis. Do we think tertiary prompts are will not be a necessity in future? If the answers are 'yes' then I shall make the change as you suggest.
