Since the stable 1.6.x series of versions just appeared a few weeks age, the development and stable versions are identical for the moment. As soon as the main developers want to start any major revisions of the program, the versions will split into stable 1.6.x and development 1.7.x. If I know them right, it might happen fairly soon.
