In working through refman.itely I saw 'upstep' and would suggest that "pick-ups" or "pick-up notes" would be better. While I understood "upstep" it sounded like a direct translation. Better suggestions appreciated. As a hacker term it would be fairly recent and may not have had time to percolate down to any "authoritative" reference. We have the word "prefix" in English but it normally carries a grammatical connotation (e.g. "inbound" vs "outbound"). Using "prepend(-ing, -ed)" seems appropriate to me in this context.
