It is also well-known that this problem only appears for voices where the (de)crescendo happens before the first absolute dynamic, so a simple workaround is to add a \mf or \p or whatever before the (de)crescendo. If you don't want it in the printed output, you could set the transparent property.

Thanks, added this as 2 separate bugs (midi-cresc-silent and midi-cresc-subp)
They are both known since a long time ago, however for some reason I haven't added them until now.
