In the example given, the parameter betweensystemspace doesn't provide the
expected result.  Just spent several hours searching for a work-around.
Maybe I don't understand the LilyPond definition of a bug.  My intent was to
be helpful, not annoying, hoping it might be fixed and someone might show me
another way to achieve the desired result.

Please don't send email to bug-lilypond unless it's actually a bug; 
this is
clearly a question about lilypond usage, which belongs on lilypond-user
(which you also sent it to).
