The question is why the Cygwin installation in XP works excellently for me, using the latest teTeX packages and lilypond 2.4.3-1?
However, on Linux machine where I had compiled LilyPond myself, I noticed that it didn't work when I had compiled against the kpathsea from an old teTeX version 1.07 or so, and then tried to run it with teTeX 3.0. The problem was probably that the default paths in kpathsea didn't match the directory structure of the teTeX 3.0 installation (this could be an issue in LilyPond since the $SELFAUTOPARENT used in texmf.cnf doesn't work since the LilyPond binary is placed elsewhere. Ignore this comment if you are not an expert in the inner workings of teTeX). However, it might also be that the configuration file of teTeX 3.0 uses some feature in kpathsea that wasn't included in my old version. /Mats Quoting Renato Biolcati Rinaldi <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: > You probably already noticed this bug, so sorry for this email, but I > tought I may as well drop a line. > It's not a bug in Lilypond, but something that has to do with the > latest version of Tetex, I made a new install of Lily on both my > Fedora3 and XP systems and I had the very same error which is quite a > weird thing, the "return value 256" which has been reported on many > messages in mailing list. > The archives were not working but checking on Google's cache it seemed > to me the very same error happened in many different systems.
