The problem is fixed in 2.7.28.
With 2.6.5, it works fine if you use \relative once for the entire staff,
like:
\new PianoStaff <<
\time 3/4
\new Staff \relative <<
\repeat volta 2 { b'8. b16 fis4 gis\trill }
\alternative { {
\grace a'8 a'4 r8. g,16[ c8. e16]\bar "||"
