I'm using Linux Ubuntu Edgy.
But if I write
sudo apt-get install lilypond
in a command window and press ENTER, the installation of Lilypond 2.6.3 starts.
I guess, Lilypond 2.6.3 is not the current version of your program.
And I guess, most of the Linux users prefer the current version of Lilypond (and
not a version from 1982).
So, maybe it would be appropriate to do an update with respect to the binary
sources of Lilypond ...
