Further investigation shows that it's not a problem of FontForge but
rather of
mf2pt1. Well, it's not a `problem' per se because mf2pt1 does the
right thing,
but the scripts which convert the Type 1 fonts to OpenType expect that
the order
of glyphs in the Type 1 font is the same as in the MF file -- a
requisite which
is not necessary normally.
I've patched mf2pt1 in lilypond's git repository to do the right thing (and
I'll forward the small patch to the its author).
