New issue 1404 by v.villenave: Enhancement: fingering properties should not require a chord construct
http://code.google.com/p/lilypond/issues/detail?id=1404

As of yet (version 2.13.40), FingeringEvents, StrokeFingerEvents and StringNumberEvents are not regarded as 'articulations when they're not entered inside a chord construct.

As a result,

c'-1

will be printed, but setting fingeringOrientations or add-stem-support will not work.

It's even worse with StrokeFingerEvents and StringNumberEvents:

c'-\rightHandFinger #2
or
c'\2

will not be printed at all. As a side-effect, these cannot be entered in a separate variable, as shown in issue 1283.

It is possible that addressing issue 1403 would make this issue a lot easier to fix.
