Comment 21 notes the one restoration of 2.12.3 behavior that I did not like.
LeftEdge takes space from the notes, but only when one is created for a
clef/signature spacing, and only on the first staff in the system.
In the next patch set I'll include the equivalent of
\override LeftEdge #'extra-spacing-height = #'(+inf.0 . -inf.0)
Please do look for other problems.
