Since issue 1548 was opened, the code has come back closer to the existing documentation. Specifically : 1) we *no* *longer* have, with default settings, a single voice per MIDI channel; MIDI channels are dynamically assigned trying to put all voices with the same midiInstrument on the same channel. 2) the snippet in Notation Ref. 3.5.1, about having two different instrument sounds on the same staff, works in version 2.13.55
If we keep the new system, we should eventually go through section 3.5 to see that everything still makes sense and works. I think everything in there works with 2.13.55. Any explicit reference to MIDI channels is probably inaccurate with the new system.
