Joe's fix to issue 487, 0c5927 and bef241, mostly fixes this as well.
The only un-fixed aspect is that the first beam in the first example, that
really *does* cross staves, fails to get space reserved. That, however, is
a documented known issue with more direct example in issue 1411.
