Comment #4 on issue 1503 by [email protected]: Feature request: simplify jazz chord display
http://code.google.com/p/lilypond/issues/detail?id=1503

Please note that in a jazz context, using slashes to prefix modified notes such as a flat 5 is not just extra clutter, it is absolutely incorrect. Slashes are only used in jazz to denote modified bass notes or polychords. So in the former case the slash must not appear, whereas in the latter it must appear. In lead sheets containing both cases, having to repeatedly change chordNameSeparator within one lead sheet is impractical, so comment 2 is not generally useful.

All the original suggestions are excellent and I whole-heartedly agree with them.

Yet another suggestion would be to make the half-diminished slashed circle larger. Really it should be roughly the same size as the triangle (which is currently too large).
