I've updated the LSR with the words above (contributed by me in another guise). I do think that the command deserves somewhat better documentation in either the NR or the LM, but don't know where.
An example of where it's particularly helpful is ties across 2 voices, with a hidden note clashing with the visible note in the other voice.
