The collision with the flag is avoided as of about version 2.15.10.
(If anyone else, like me, finds the old longer slur more readable, we can
still have it
with an \override Slur #'height-limit = #10 so that the slur clears the
flag)
Slurs still cross stems in situations like issue 1718.
