In line with comment #2, this issue became irrelevant with addressing issue
1403. See input/regression/define-event-function.ly for a trivial
implementation of \dynamic (under a different name) also given in the
define-event-function documentation as example. This does not address the
Midi question, but that's outside the original scope of this issue.
