Pushed as df5333eae088bedf6bb7ef5f255dffbb81f09a5d to staging.
Regtest and docs need to follow. If existing source continues to compile,
this is actually one part of the verification since we have a number of
tweaks to fingerings depending on -x still being recognized as a postevent
given a respective type signature.
