Although it seems to confuse people (and the people it confuses seem to be
programmers) it is a nice feature that we should keep; the extra length of
the bracket has no musical meaning.
I suggest mentioning it in NR 1.4.1, and then adding an option if anybody
gives a reason why they want the horizontal line segment.
