The passive voice is a grammatical construct convenient for hiding the
active subject of a sentence.

Somebody apparently _did_ compile the PPC version.  And apparently with
a setup that is not representative for your computer.  So the solution,
instead of "being stuck", is to volunteer for that kind of compilation
work and thus be able to give early feedback.

It is all very complimentary if users expect "the developers (TM)" to
set up compilation farms representative for every installation out
there, but not all that realistic.
