After looking through the code base, this problem actually touches a lot of
grobs.
Most (if not all) of the grobs have a call to robust_relative_extent.
The easy thing to do would be to make Paper_column::break_align_width the
default for broken grobs and have this funciton take an extra argument for
common_x so that it doesn't use the grob's X parent.
I'll look into it...
