Correct me if I am wrong but I believe you are referring to the skipFirstLength and skipLastLength features: http://lilypond.org/doc/v2.15/Documentation/notation/skipping-corrected-music In which case, there is an existing tracker here: http://code.google.com/p/lilypond/issues/detail?id=686 Let me know if I have analysed your suggestion properly.
