Sorry for the delay in response. Apart from personal taste, the point is
that I have never seen a flag touching notehead like that. I've always
thought that flag should "attack" notehead from east: southeast (in case
downstem) or northeast in case of upstem.

As far as I remember, I used: \once \override Stem #'length = #19.1
