As a workaround you could place a hidden note at the end of the hairpin
<< e2. { s4\< s4\> \once\hideNotes e4\!_"poco cresc."} >>
The bug might go away naturally as you continue to enter the music,
if there is a note in any other voice at the end of the hairpin.
