Maybe it's actually as easy as that, but for old versions it would at least mean that they have to be rebuilt (and I don't know it that's possible or feasible). For upcoming versions it might be a really good idea, but I don't know if one can 'backport' it to 2.14 (and even older versions one sometimes lands on).
