This can't really be "clarified" at a reasonably user-accessible level.
So I'll try harmonizing the behavior instead, preferring the number
interpretation over post-events in this kind of context.

I'd prefer writing user docs for this case only if it turns out that we
really, really, really, really can't make LilyPond behave differently.
