Thanks for the pointer to that thread. It seems to be the same issue. So,
does the \fromproperty command not return a markup object? In the source
code, the function's docstring says this:
Read the @var{symbol} from property settings, and produce a stencil
from the markup contained within. If @var{symbol} is not defined, it
returns an empty markup.
So... does it return a stencil or a markup?
