So what exactly is the problem?  Your code example is faulty: `Custos`
grobs don't listen to the `direction` property.  As you've meanwhile
found out, it's rather `neutral-position`.

Please provide scans of real-world scores to back up your claim (and
open a new issue in the tracker).
