Hi!

Sergey, years ago we talked about the possibility of reworking MU to make
some of the features optional, which would be only available if the
required plugins were installed.

Many Debian users avoid installing the mailutils package because in a
minimal system, it pulls a good number of extra packages just to get
/usr/bin/mail, which is the main reason for installing the package:

The following NEW packages will be installed:
  guile-1.8-libs libfribidi0 libgsasl7 libltdl7 libmailutils2 libmysqlclient16
  libntlm0 mailutils mysql-common

I have no idea if the MU rewrite has made this wishlist easier to
accomplish, but if this kind of support (MySQL, PostgreSQL, IMAP, etc.)
could be loaded at runtime, I think it'd be a useful feature for 3.x.
