Details:
I've attached the following (UTF8) encoded file:
INPUT := い.foo
#INPUT := 雨.foo
.PHONY=all
all :
@echo $(patsubst %.foo,%.bar,$(INPUT))
and it hangs and gnumake chews up 100% cpu.
GNU Make 4.0
Built for x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu
