I bumped into an issue where MinGW's make would complain about failed
dependencies:

After some investigation I realised it's because of the infamous Windows path
length problem. I understand it's not make's duty to fix or work around it but
please, could 'make' at least complain that given path is simply too long for
given platform and abort without any further misleading errors?
