Summary: Add variable-assignment debug option: --debug=A Project: make Submitted by: None Submitted on: Thu 17 May 2018 09:12:33 PM UTC Severity: 3 - Normal Item Group: Enhancement Status: None Privacy: Public Assigned to: None Open/Closed: Open Discussion Lock: Any Component Version: 4.2.1 Operating System: None Fixed Release: None Triage Status: None _______________________________________________________ Details: Over the years, I keep re-patching GNU make with this useful feature, as some of the makefiles we use at work are quite twisty, so it is hard to see where a variable is defined/redefined/over-defined/define-ignored etc. It seems this would be handy for the larger community, too. The simple patch here adds another flag, A (for Assignments), and results in output from the print_variable() function. This will be enabled by -d or --debug=a with this patch, when one uses -d to turn on all possible debugging. _______________________________________________________ File Attachments: ------------------------------------------------------- Date: Thu 17 May 2018 09:12:33 PM UTC Name: debug_assignments.patch Size: 2KiB By: None <http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/download.php?file_id=44176> _______________________________________________________ Reply to this item at: <http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?53935> _______________________________________________ Message sent via Savannah https://savannah.gnu.org/ _______________________________________________ Bug-make mailing list Bug-make@gnu.org https://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/bug-make
