The current example in the documentation given for $(findstring ...) is rather
misleading:
$(findstring a,a b c)
gives the impression that $(findstring ...) works on words and not on raw
character sequences.
I attach a patch, which uses an example, which demonstrates that $(findstring
...) really does work on raw character sequences.
