Parted 1.6.22 won't be able to resize ext3 any better than 1.6.6 can.
The ext2/3 support code is in *major* need of a complete overhaul. Also,
I seem to remember hearing that newer versions of parted are too large
to fit on a boot disk like 1.6.6 does.
That's too bad but thank you anyway for your fast answer - it would be
very nice to have such a tool though. I hope someone finds the time to
work on it!
It's available for some years now, misleadingly called resize2fs (it can
resize both ext2 and ext3). However you must do the partition resizing
yourself.
Recently I've seen somewhere how someone repartitioned NTFS using Parted:
- ntfsresize: resize NTFS filesystem
- parted: delete NTFS partition
- parted: rescue NTFS partition
Very nice! :) I guess you should be able to do this with any other
filesystem what Parted can also rescue.
