Hello,
I am not sure if you are aware of this, but the
parted module used in the SuSE 10.0 OSS distro can't handle large disks. I guess
the 1024 cylinder limit has creeped somehow in there. I don't know if this is
something specific in the SuSE OSS distro or in the GNU Parted module used, but
I thought you should know. Unfortunately I am at work now in a windows box and
can't send you the Parted info. Anyway, I have a Western Digital Caviar 250GB
IDE disk, and the parted module says it can't read the disk. fdisk and
mkfs.reiser worked perfectly.
