Since there have been many important fixes since 2.2 was released, I would be in favour of another parted release soon.
My testing of parted from the git repository on May 1st, 2010 with fedora 12 is now over 70,000 iterations. So far the "failure to inform kernel of partition changes" problem has not occurred. Hence the code in the git repository appears to be at least as stable as the version 2.2 release.
