We are currently looking at using the Parted binary (not the library) in a commercial product and would like to know if it will trigger the disclosure requirement the Parted GNU GPL v3 license? More specifically, we do not do any modification to the code. We compile it in the user-space along with other Linux-based applications. The binary Parted application would be shipped in a firmware binary on a flash drive. In this scenario, would the use of Parted or the “packaging” of GPL v3-based open source component with other proprietary components on the same media obligate us to release all the codes shipped on our flash drive? If so, is there a commercial license available for Parted?
